Forest Glen Village Centre

Location

Forest Glen, Sunshine Coast

Located at the base of Buderim Mountain on the Sunshine Coast, the Forest Glen Village Centre development featured three multi-use, low-rise buildings comprising:

  • Onsite tilt panel and structural steel construction;
  • Two one-storey buildings;
  • One two-storey building with suspended slab and lift;
  • Asphalt above ground carparking for 265 vehicles; and
  • Landscaping and external works including outbuildings.

Offering a total net lettable area of approximately 4,534m² the Forest Glenn Village Centre was a welcome addition to the fast-growing region, which has seen extensive growth in recent years. Constructed under a negotiated Design and Construct contract developed from an extensive ECI phase, work began onsite in mid-November 2021.

Retention basins were included as part of the overall sediment and erosion control design. These are monitored and treated by an automatic dosing treatment system that removes any solids prior to discharge.

Late in 2022, Tomkins celebrated the grand opening of the Forest Glen Village Centre and White’s IGA Forest Glen. The multi-use retail and medical centre included a chemist, retail outlets, a dentist and two-storey medical centre – so the title of ‘Village Centre’ is fitting! Client feedback indicates the centre has already become a hub of the local community.

Team Tomkins’ years of experience and effective communication with stakeholders, tenants, subcontractors and Sunshine Coast Council led to a timely delivery of this project, despite over 60 days of rain falling onsite during 2022.

In keeping with Tomkins’ long-held belief that it is our responsibility to enrich and sustain the local communities where we operate, the Forest Glen Village Centre Project created over 100 full-time jobs, with more than 675 workers being inducted onsite and approximately 90% of all subcontractors and 80% of all materials and suppliers being sourced locally.
