Tomkins were engaged to undertake the design and construct conversion of the 12,122sqm Bundall Masters hardware into a Home Consortium Bulky Goods Retail outlet. The project included all base build and services works, and the creation of 6 new retail tenancies within the existing building.

Base build works for the tenancies included new electrical distribution works and base build hydraulic services to each of the tenancies. Tomkins was required to infill the existing Masters garden centres’ roof and walls while also resurfacing the flooring to be suitable for the tenancies. The works also required the upgrading of Fire Services, Mechanical Services, and Security. The retail mall features high-quality epoxy coated floors and is one of the feature elements of the Home Consortium stores.

Specific tenant works were also undertaken by Tomkins and included the complete fit-outs for Focus on Furniture, Nick Scali, James Lane, and De Rucci retail tenancies. Communication and coordination were key to ensuring all the base build and tenant works were delivered seamlessly with the Tomkins’ team working closely with stakeholders at all times.

Tomkins relationship with the client was kept professional and well organised. With an already tight time-frame, Tomkins managed 17-floor plan revisions and 50 client/tenant requested changes whilst works were underway and ensured that the project was completed within the original time-frame. This included working 7 days per week with night shifts to cover the additional works added during the construction period.
