Tomkins has finished construction of the brand new 3,300m2 multi-purpose sports hall facility and car parking area for Parklands Christian College, with the new facility providing built presence and making a lasting first impression on those driving through the school. The development has three multi-purpose sports courts, functions and performing arts stage, storeroom, full amenities and a mezzanine office.

At a considerable height of 13m tall visible along the Mount Lindsay Highway, the sports hall structure consists of slab on ground, coloured blockwork feature walls with translucent Danpalon cladding to the upper façade and a large raking Colourbond roof. Tomkins also constructed minor extensions and upgrades around the College to lift it into the future of schooling.

“In 2016, our College embarked on a very significant building project at Parklands Christian College with the construction of our Multi-Purpose Centre and Sports Centre. It was the biggest project the College had undertaken, and it was located on the corner of our property with a main highway running along side, so we wanted this to be a landmark building for the College.Tomkins were successful in the Tender process, however this was followed with a period of discussion and changes as the College sought to match the building to the price the College could pay. Throughout this whole process, Tomkins were very helpful, supportive and patient as we worked through the various items to give the College the best outcome for the funds available.Their site setup was negotiated with consideration of the operation of a Church and a School, and throughout all this, they were very respectful of our wishes and they made all the adjustments necessary to ensure both School and Church operated effectively while they were building.During each step of the construction, they frequently consulted with the College to ensure the project and proposed changes were suitable to the College and offering the best outcome for all.Their Site Forman was always available and very approachable as were their Project Managers. These people were known to me as Simon, Scott and Jake, and we frequently spoke on matters both big and small, and at all times they were informing me of progress and asking appropriate questions about the final outcome as the project took shape. We have finished with a very satisfactory outcome, and a building that will be a landmark for many years to come.I would happily place this company on our Tender list for any future building, and happily welcome them back on the School site at any time.”- David Baskerville, School Principal, Parklands Christian College
